Week 4 Cliff Notes Overview

WEEK 4 
AKA “Hell Week”
Dog Learns Subordination
The Goal
  • The dog learns to yield to the handler.

Success Looks Like
  • The dog reads all mechanics and footwork of the handler.
  • The dog does an Auto Sit every time without verbal from the handler.
  • The handler does all 4 turns learned.
  • The dog holds a Sit/Stay at 6 ft and the handler corrects when necessary.
  • The handler does a Figure 8 pattern using straight lines.
  • The dog yields to the handler when shaped into the Down.
  • The dog holds a stand while the handler makes 3 full circles around the dog.
  • The dog comes when recalled into a Straight Sit in Front in an alley.

EXAM - Posted by the end of the week
  • Video #1
    • Heeling with pace changes
    • 5 or more Auto Sits with Exercise Finish
    • Right About Turn, Left About Turn, Right Turn, & Left Turn
    • Sit/Stay at 6 ft. for 3 min.
    • Figure 8

    • Supported Stand with 3 circles

Daily Training Sessions
  • Follow Training Protocol before and after every session
  • Before each session: LL warmup until the dog ignores high distractions
  • After each session: LL Cool Down
  • Quiet Time should be done at least 2 times a day

  • Days 1-2: Low distractions
  • Days 3-4: Medium distractions
  • Days 5-6: High distractions
