Cliff Notes Week 3 Overview

WEEK 3
Dog Learns Discipline
The Goal
  • The dog learns to stay in a stationary spot 

Success Looks Like
  • The dog can follow the handler’s mechanics and commands, both verbal
    and silent
  • The dog can hold a Sit/Stay at 6 ft. for 1 minute
  • The dog can hold a stand (supported) for 1 minute
  • The dog can do ‘Place’ in the negative space (white PVC area)

EXAM - Posted by the end of Day 3 with PVC upright pipes
  • 2+ minutes of video including
    • 5 Auto Sits using hand signals but no verbal
    • Heeling pattern
    • Sit/Stay at Nose-to-Knees for 1 minute
    • Supported Stand for 30 seconds

EXAM - Posted by the end of the week
  • NOTE: This test is done SILENTLY
  • Pick a new location and do 2+ minutes of video including
    • Heeling with Right About Turns, Left Turns, & Right Turns
    • Several Halts/Auto Sits
    • Several Sit/Stays at 6 ft. for 1 minute with Stepping Back to your dog and doing Exercise Finishes after each one
    • The Stand for 1 minute with an Exercise Finish when you are done

Always end on a high note of success! Never end on a failure.

The dog remembers the last thing it did, so always end with a positive 🙂
